A life less complicated
To reduce the number of cars being added to Auckland’s roads the City has removed the requirement for apartments to have carparks.
26 Aroha apartments instead have three small rentable carparks available which will be prioritised for families with young children.
The cost of buying and running a private car is one of the highest day-to-day costs facing most people. In the Pricing & Plans page we’ve provided a calculation to show you how you could save $100 per week living at 26 Aroha without a car and may still have all the transport you need.
With supermarket, shops, schools and amenities a short walk away, buses and trains very close, plenty of bike space, a shared electric car very convenient rental car drop-offs and pickups, we’ve made every effort to make living without your own private car easy at 26 Aroha, so why not give it a try?
Everything so handy
Many of the places people might normally need to drive to are within walking distance in the local St Lukes and Morningside neighbourhood.
Within 5 mins walk – A large supermarket, 160 shops and the movies are 100m away at the St Lukes mall. Multiple cafes, restaurants, several pre-schools and regular bus services.
Within 10-15 mins walk – Many primary, intermediate and secondary schools, Morningside cafes and bars, and the Morningside train station.
Shared electric car
26 Aroha will have a dedicated electric car on site for residents to share. It will be bookable online by the hour. Look at the schedule on your smart phone, book it, grab the keys from the central lockbox and you’re good to go. Plug the car in when you get back and you’re done.
Car insurance, maintenance, breakdown dramas and future upgrades are no longer your problem.
Rentals on demand
We have made an arrangement with a local car rental company to drop off and pick up cars for residents to use for weekends and longer so bigger trips are easy.
For example, for weekend getaways the rental car company can drop off a car at 4pm Friday and pick it up 8am Monday at competitive rates. Choose from their fleet of cars to suit your trip and number of passengers, so you’re not restricted to one size of car or van as you would be with your own vehicle.
Peer-to-Peer rentals
Peer-to-peer car rentals are like Airbnb for cars. Anyone with a car can make it available to others on a number of peer-to-peer App services operating in NZ (eg. mycaryourrental.com). They are available at hourly, daily or weekly rates and insurance and breakdown services are included.
Our shared electric car will be managed through one of these services, so if the car isn’t suitable for what you need, just pick from the other cars available in the App. More and more folk are sharing their cars this way. It’s a growing eco-conscious trend.
Bikes and e-bikes
We’ve made space for heaps of bikes. Our bike lock-up is wired for charging e-bikes and it’s covered and securely locked with a digital keypad. We have sensor lights so you can come and go safely at all hours.
The nearby Western Bike Path accesses paths all over Auckland. You can be in the city in only 15-20 mins and the waterfront in 20-25 mins.
Buses & Trains
Within 5 mins walk – there are 3 bus-stops servicing 9 different routes providing regular bus transport into the Wynyard Quarter (via Ponsonby), central city and all the Outer Link stops around Auckland.
Within 10 mins walk – Morningside train station. Trains go via Newmarket to the downtown Britomart station in 30 mins or out west through Avondale and New Lynn to Henderson in 25 mins.
